Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) $1,400.00 per person Course Length: 150 Hours Course Options In-Person Training: Minimum of 6 students Blended Learning: Classes offered three times per year Course Overview The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course prepares students to provide out-of-hospital emergency medical care and safe transportation for patients experiencing medical emergencies and traumatic injuries. EMTs are an essential part of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system and serve as the critical link between the scene of an emergency and the healthcare system. Working under medical direction, EMTs assess patients, provide life-saving interventions, and safely transport patients using the equipment commonly found on an ambulance. Throughout this comprehensive 150-hour program, students will develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to care for patients in both routine and life-threatening emergencies. Successful graduates who meet all course requirements will receive a Certificate of Completion and become eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification examination. Upon successful completion of the NREMT exam, graduates may apply for Louisiana EMT licensure. Admission Requirements Applicants must: * Be 18 years of age or older * Possess a High School Diploma or GED * Demonstrate a 10th-grade reading and writing level * Successfully pass a criminal background check * Successfully complete a random drug screening * Submit all required documentation before the start of clinical rotations, including: * Valid state-issued driver's license or identification card * Current American Heart Association BLS Provider certification * Fingerprint card * Functional Physical Examination completed by a licensed medical provider verifying the student can perform EMT job duties * Proof of all required immunizations Important Information **Course tuition does NOT include:** * CPR certification (if needed) * Textbooks * National Registry (NREMT) examination fees * Louisiana state licensing fees
